ANCA-WR BOARD MEMBERS AND STAFF ATTEND ASSYRIAN MEMORIAL DAY COMMEMORATION

North Hollywood, CA – The Assyrian American Association of America, in collaboration with the Assyrian Genocide (Seyfo) Research Center, hosted a memorial event at their community center in North Hollywood, CA on August 7, 2017 to commemorate Assyrian Martyrs’ Day. Speakers included Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, California State Senator Scott Wilk, California Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Krekorian, LAUSD Board Member Scott Schmerelson, and ANCA-WR Chairwoman Nora Hovsepian, among others. San Francisco, California – Earlier today, the Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region (ANCA-WR) announced that the Board of Directors and staff would be taking a road trip to the Bay Area and Fresno to host several Town Halls.  On Friday, August 11 at 7:30 PM, the Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region (ANCA-WR) and ANCA San Francisco  Bay Area will host an ANCA Town Hall at Saroyan Hall 825 Brotherhood Way in San Francisco. This Week: ANCA-WR Interns Share Their Experiences

Over the last two weeks the we have  met with several incredibly knowledgeable individuals for enlightening and engaging discussions on topics pertaining to the Armenian American cause. Some of these workshops were more lecture-oriented, whereas the others were hands on and full of healthy and balanced debate. Through the various discussions with AYF CE member Razmig Sarkissian, Asbarez English Editor Ara Khatchadourian, ANCA-WR Chair Nora Hovsepian, and several other leaders of the Armenian Community,  we developed a deeper sense of understanding of the work that has been and MUST continue to be carried to further the Armenian American cause.  These meetings were very enlightening and empowering.   Several of the us interns also had the privilege of attending the screening of Bared Maronian’s newest film,…

This Week: Our Interns Recap their Latest Experiences

Over the last two weeks, we had the opportunity to meet with a variety of public officials to discuss pertinent issues to the Armenian-American community, and also to spearhead projects such as weekly video blogs and graphics for the ANCA-WR’s online presence. Apart from that, we spent a lot of time at the office reaching out to coalition partners and politicians who support pro-Armenian activism. We have also been promoting the ANCA-WR’s annual gala on October 8, 2017 which is the organization’s most prominent event of the year.
